Disneyland Paris Dining Plans Are They Worth The Money?

What are Disneyland Paris Meal Plans, and are they worth the money? This is a subject that gets discussed a lot, and causes much confusion among first-time visitors to Disneyland Paris. In a nutshell, the Meal Plan is a way of paying for some or all of your meals before the start of your holiday rather than paying at each restaurant on the day. Only guests staying at a Disney Hotel or Davy Crockett Ranch are able to add a Dining Plan to their booking, which can be done at any time before the day you arrive. The Meal Plan must be purchased for everyone included in the booking, and covers the entire holiday – you can’t pick and choose which days or which people you want the Meal Plan for.

Which Meals Do the Disneyland Paris Meal Plans Cover?

Guests have the option of purchasing one of three Meal Plans:

  • Breakfast Meal Plan – includes breakfast in your hotel or a takeaway breakfast bag to eat in your cabin at Davy Crockett Ranch each day
  • Half Board Meal Plan – includes breakfast in your hotel or a takeaway breakfast bag to eat in your cabin at Davy Crockett Ranch plus one meal in a Disney hotel, the Parks or Disney Village per day
  • Full Board Meal Plan – includes breakfast in your hotel or a takeaway breakfast bag to eat in your cabin at Davy Crockett Ranch plus two meals in a Disney hotel, the Parks or Disney Village per day

Guests staying in a Club Room or Suite at Disneyland Hotel, Hotel New York, Newport Bay Club or Sequoia Lodge have breakfast in the Club Lounge included with the booking, so it is only possible to purchase a Half Board or Full Board Meal Plan. These are discounted due to breakfast already being covered.

Where Can We Eat With the Disneyland Paris Meal Plans?

There is really very little difference between the levels of Dining Plan with all three including a large range of Table Service, Buffet and Quick Service (Fast Food) restaurants. The Premium Dining Plan includes Character Dining, and can only be added to bookings at the Disneyland Hotel. Each of the Table Service restaurants has a Set Menu for those using a Dining Plan, so the menu choices can be limited. It is worth checking out the Set Menu options before deciding where to eat.

Will a Disneyland Paris Meal Plan Save Us Money?

This is where it really does pay to do your research. In order to work out whether the Meal Plan is worth it for your family, you need to know where you want to eat, and how much it would cost if you paid full price on the day. The Meal Plan will only save you money if you eat in the most expensive restaurants that are included with your Plan. If your family would prefer to eat at the Quick Service (Fast Food) restaurants rather than the Table Service or Buffet restaurants, the Dining Plan will definitely not save you money. It is cheaper to pay for Quick-Service (Fast Food) meals at the restaurant than to use the Dining Plan unless you have the Standard Full Board Dining Plan which includes one of these meals.

Unless you want to buy breakfast in the Parks or DisneyVillage – or are staying in a Club Room with breakfast included – it is a good idea to at least get the Breakfast Meal Plan. This will be cheaper than buying breakfast at the hotel after you’ve arrived. Guests staying at Davy Crockett Ranch have the option to make their own breakfast rather than buying it onsite as the cabins all have self-catering facilities.

Guests who are staying in a Club Room or Suite have breakfast and afternoon tea in the Club Lounge included with their booking. A Meal Plan on top of this will result in a lot of food! It might be that you want to have the afternoon tea on some days, and eat in the restaurants on others. In this scenario, it would be cheaper to pay on the day in the restaurants as the Meal Plan includes at least one restaurant meal for each day.

Great Option For Foodies and Planners!

Ultimately, whether a Meal Plan is a good idea for your family or not comes down to what kind of food you want to eat, and whether you like to plan every last detail or go with the flow and decide where to eat on the day. Our family loves eating in the Table Service and Buffet restaurants, so a Meal Plan would probably save us money. Some of these types of restaurants get booked up many months in advance. It’s best to book your table as soon as possible, so you have more chance of eating in the restaurants you want. You can always add a Meal Plan to your booking later. Just check that it includes the places you’ve booked. And if Disneyland Paris ever brings back their Free Meal Plan offer, jump on it!
