Les Trois Forêts Village is right down near the border of southern Germany, and is well worth the trek if you factor in an overnight stop each way. With loads of activities and a fantastic pool as well as a spa, a week here will be fun and relaxing. Big families have plenty of accommodation options to choose from including themed cottages for those with younger kids, and fabulous Exclusive cottages for families wanting an extra taste of luxury.

With so much to do onsite, you might not feel the need to venture farther afield. Families wanting to explore the area have plenty of options, though. The medieval city of Sarrebourg is 11 miles away, whilst Strasbourg is just over an hour’s drive. If you fancy visiting in December, Strasbourg has a wonderful Christmas market. This really is a beautiful area in the middle of the forest with chateaux and vineyards dotted around. Take your bikes and discover a new part of France.

Useful Resources When Driving in France
All distances have been taken from Google Maps. Journey times will vary depending on the time/day you travel and any unforeseen events such as accidents or roadworks. Whether you opt for planes, trains or ferries, remember to allow 1-2 hours for check-in and boarding each way.
Many countries are bringing in more and more ULEZ zones, which can make journeys difficult if your big old family car is non-compliant. Even cars that are compliant have to be registered to be allowed in these zones. This all gets pretty complicated, so it’s best to just avoid the relevant areas. Google Maps will often take you straight through a ULEZ zone without offering an alternative route, so make adjustments to your route before you set off if necessary. Visit drive2.city for up-to-date information on ULEZ zones in the UK and the rest of Europe.
